Professional Experience
Chuck is an associate with Kinney & Lange. He primarily focuses his practice on patent law, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate studies, and drafting opinions of counsel regarding infringement, enforceability, and validity issues.
Chuck received his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa. During law school, Chuck was a Note & Comment editor for the Journal of Corporation Law, in which his note on Artificial Intelligence and its role in the US patent system was published. Throughout law school, Chuck was a research assistant for Professor Rantanen and helped research how the Federal Circuit decides patent cases. An article describing these decisions was published in the Houston Law Review in 2022.
Chuck holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University. While completing his degree, Chuck performed research in Dr. Reuel’s lab on passive wireless resonant sensors and microfluidic channels. Chuck is a member of Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honors society. Prior to law school, Chuck worked as a Process Engineer for Grain Processing Corporation.
